Dear Parents,

Welcome to fabulous fifth grade. This year we will learn many new things.

Religion: Our main focus is the seven sacraments. We also try, to the best of our fifth grade ability, to apply these religious truths to our everyday life. We have many opportunities for community outreach projects as well.

Language Arts: In language arts we combine reading, grammar and writing development. Students have spelling as well as exposure to new vocabulary daily.

Math: While the two main concepts are long division and fractions, many more concepts are covered. In every chapter, some beginning algebra is introduced and word problems are practiced.

Social Studies: We cover U.S. history, from exploration to colonization, the Constitution to western movement. We learn our story.

Science: We learn about concepts related to Life, Earth and Physical science. One highlight in fifth grade is our field trip to the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center for a simulated space mission.
